A Call from "Microsoft" - Dorris McComics Tribute

I received my first call from "Microsoft" recently telling me about a virus I had. I immediately thought that such a call could be perfect in the format of Alex Norris' Dorris McComics as well as a good life lesson to anyone reading. So I hope Alex doesn't mind my rip-off homage to his character and style. Go check out his stuff, it's always fun whenever it appears as I'm browsing through the internet.

Good Idea/Bad Idea - REQUEST

When David made a request for me to draw a good idea, I decided to go one step further and also draw a bad idea. I then went a partial step forward from there and turned it into a tribute to Animaniacs while also continuing Davids skeletal theme from his last couple of requests.

Build it? They will come!

I haven't seen Field of Dreams so I'm not entirely sure why Kevin Costner wanted to build a baseball field to attract a bunch of ghosts. I'm also sure that the quote may be a victim of the Mandela Effect, but I thought that it could have gone a drastically different route if he'd interpreted the message differently.

My original idea for this involved some kind of building that nobody would ever want to visit but then I decided to go more literal and not to alienate anyone that may actually want to visit whatever type of building I came up with.

Skeleton Inside My Head - REQUEST

Davids fascination with skeletons continues as he's fascinated by the concept of having a skeleton inside his head. This one likes to play with peoples brains.

Overscan - The Movie

From hearing the term overscan as in to scan a barcode more than intended I figured that sounds like a good name for an action movie. So here's the poster!

I've also since discovered that it's also a term to describe the way that TVs (particularly older CRTs) will crop the edges of a video and anyone who's ever worked with video files to any decent degree knows that this is something that needs to be considered when including vital info or details on the screen.

Admiral Ackbar's Afterlife

The ghost of Admiral Ackbar better watch out when the Ghostbusters are about.

I know it's been a while since I posted. I've been having PC issues and while it's off getting fixed I've got my hands on this old loaner machine so I can keep on posting these doodles.

Skeleton's Day Job REQUEST

Another request from someone called David. Either the same few people keep making requests, these names are very common or I'm just not very good at making up names for pretend requesteees. (It's the first one.) David wanted me to draw a skeleton's day job, assuming his night job is to run around being scary, he suggested that the skeleton may work in a shop but I decided I'd much rather see him as a dog walker.

The Joker's Dilema

Are those clowns still going about? Haven't heard much about it in a while. Either way, nobody ever thought of the affect on The Joker's livelihood before running about dressed as clowns.

Back Problems REQUEST

David was speaking of a "very specific" back problem. This was the most specific back problem I could imagine.

High Steaks REQUEST

Margreet de Heer over on Tapastic was inspired by my Grater Good doodle and wanted to see me draw high steaks. So here you go. Enjoy! If you, or anyone else, have any more requests just let me know.

Eyes Cream

I overheard a girl asking her mum if she could go get some "Eyes Cream," these are the thoughts it gave me.

Sorry if my postings are slightly irregular, I do plan on getting back to normal again soon. I am considering giving the train tickets a bit of a break for a short time though while I get a bit of a buffer going. If anyone has some more train suggestions for me that could maybe help me speed up a bit too.

Sans Sheriff

Anyone like Latin, fonts and cowboys? This doodle is for you! I cater for very niche markets. I think he just ran away cartoony style and left behind a few choice items.

TRAIN DOODLE #014: Cowboy Bebop

The first Cowboy Bebop thing I saw was the movie, which takes part fairly close to the end of the series. Once I seen the whole series I was able to enjoy the movie even more than I had originally. One scene that always stood out to me was the scene on the train. Pretty cool stuff. Thing is it's a special train that hangs from the top, a bit like a ski lift, but I didn't let that stop me from including it. After all, when the train pulled up to a station it still looks like a regular train on rails as people get on at the platform.

Eric the Gorilla Viking

The vikings were so fierce they had wild animals as pets. Didn't even use them in battle, just for going home to and putting their feet up with.

TRAIN DOODLES #013: The Cole Train

Anyone played any Gears of War games? You may remember the moments when Augustus Cole, a.k.a. The Cole Train comes to the rescue. The one man locust killing machine, or in this situation an actual stand in train car.

A Techie Wearing Prison Clothes Doing Taxes

When you have a prisoner doing taxes what do you get? That's right Andy Dufresne! I just made him a little more techie (nerdy) to go with this Arty Games suggestion. Don't worry, just one more Arty Games post for the time being and we'll be back to more nonsense from my brain.

TRAIN DOODLES #012: Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome

Mad Max hit a resurgence last year with the popularity of Fury Road. Of course it was a good film and was enjoyed by many because of it's practically shot action and chase sequences, but the originals definitely had their fun moments too. One part in the third film, Beyond Thunderdome, had this truck/train hybrid during a particularly high octane chase sequence.

Treasure Chest + Newspaper =

Doing some more object combinations from the Arty Games app. Not sure if putting one object inside the other is in the spirit of this exercise but I thought it would be amusing if for some reason the newspapers were kept locked up inside the treasure chest while some typical looking treasure was just casually lying around next to it. Makes you wonder what's so special about the newspapers.

Gun + Motorbike =

So carrying on with the Arty Games app and trying it's other features. Here is an exercise in it that involves combining two different objects. I'm sure you can already see what those objects are. Wasn't too difficult a task this one.

TRAIN DOODLES #011: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Remember when Abraham Lincoln fought a bunch of vampires on top of a train with an axe-shotgun thing?

Also, what y'all thinking of the slight upgraded look? Changed banners and profile pics on the blog and social media sites. Trying to just update it a bit and try and have the branding show off the spirit of the doodles a bit more.

Underground Lab "falling down"

So about a month or so back I featured a few drawings inspired by the Arty Games app by Jazza from Draw With Jazza on You Tube and Rob. I decided to try it out again and this time try a couple of environment challenges. When I saw that I had to draw something that's underground falling "down" I thought I'd have a bit of trouble but as soon as I came up with the lonely flower being responsible for the laboratory that is about to crumble, I was all set.

Bunny God Standing on The Face of The Sun

The Earth shall be in great trouble the day that the evil Bunny God escapes from her Phloxar-12
prison and sets up camp on the face of The Sun to rain terror down upon us all.

This bunny character was found in a Kinder Surprise egg. It was a small bunny toy with green and red crayons for hands and legs and for some reason comes with a stand in the shape of a sun with a face on it. This changed an otherwise cute looking character into a menacing being in my mind. The bunny character also reminded me a little of The Happy Tree Friends.

The Hunger Games

Sorry for the radio silence over the past week, but I'm back!

The latest movie in The Hunger Games series borrowed a little too much from another film.

The Shire LaBeuof

So while watching The Hobbit films recently I thought a play on words with The Shire and Shia LeBeouf would be a fun idea. After a bit of brain-storming, I was brought to this vision involving the "Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf." So thanks to Lynn for helping with this one!

TRAIN DOODLE #008: Sonic, Tails & Indy

Happy 1 year doodleversary! Yep, been doodling on till roll and train tickets for a year now... is anyone looking at them yet?...?... Look out for some possible tweaks to the branding over the next few weeks to get it a little more up to date and shiny.

So I wanted to shove Sonic and Tails in their little mine carts as part of this train but as that didn't take up a lot of space I thought it'd be fun to also put Indiana Jones in there. Even though I already did young Indy earlier, I just couldn't go without including that iconic mine cart scene that I always thought inspired those Sonic levels. Oh, and happy 25th anniversary to Sonic and 35th anniversary to Indy too!

Harassed by Chris for Drawing Ideas REQUEST

So for Chris' final request (for now) he wanted a picture of me being constantly harassed by him for drawing ideas. Of course I encourage all requests, saves me coming up with stuff.

A Train Burrito REQUEST

We continue our Locomotivation from Chris with a train burrito and a little bonus burrito train, before he goes asking for that too.

TRAIN DOODLE #007: Harry Potter Hogwarts Express

Trains are pretty iconic in Harry Potter. A lot happens on the ol' Hogwarts Express. When I first thought of this I was thinking about the scene when they first meet but as that's inside a carriage it would be too difficult to tell what was going on and I can't zoom in. The other two most iconic things are the bridge the train travels over and the platform but I can't zoom out enough to show those. I also didn't want to do the front of another train so early. Then I remembered the scene with the flying car and that the Dementors (as seen pretty recently drawn on some till roll) were seen floating around at one point so decided to combine those ideas into this.

Thomas TRAINing hard for the triathlon REQUEST

Excited for my train doodles our old requestee, Chris went a bit overboard, in what he calls locomotivation, and threw many ideas my way. Here, to start off, we have our old friend Thomas the Tank Engine TRAINing for the big triathlon. There you go, I drew a train riding a bike, happy now?
